Chateau Melnik and its thousand-year old viticulture tradition

Melnik is situated 35km north of Prague on the confluence of the Elbe and Moldau. Since the 10th Century it was the home to 23 Queens and Princesses of Bohemia. One of them, Princess Ludmila, brought vines to Melnik and is at the origin of a thousand-year old viticultural tradition.
Since 1753 the castle belongs to the princes of Lobkowicz. Today, Chateau Melnik serves as a private house open to the public. The suite of large representative rooms can easily host a dinner for 200 guests.
The most historic part of the Castle is housing the family collection and is open to visitors all year around. In the historic cellars of the 14th Century matures the wine from the vineyards around. A winetasting is an essential part of the visit. In the panoramic restaurant over the confluence and wineyards, we offer a wide range of menues and our wines.
