BIG AND SMALL HALL WITH MAPS AND VEDUTTAS

A part of the map and veduttes collection is displayed in both halls. Maps and veduttas are from the 17th century from Amsterdam, the maps depict France, Italy and the Netherlands. They show an excellent quality of cartographers and print designers of that era. There are small views of important towns along their sides. The large veduttas depict significant European cities: Paris, Strasbourg, London, Venice, Napoli, Brussels, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Madrid, Lisbon, Seville, Cologne, Frankfurt, Nuremberg, Magdeburg, Gdansk, Breslau, Vienna and Prague – a part of the veduttas come from Nicholas Visscher´s well-know workshop. In the big hall there are also views of Baroque chateau gardens and vessels from the 17th century. The late Baroque chests come from Mělník region. By the window there is a glass showcase with a memorial book with over two thousand congratulations inside. The loyal advocate of Czech Provincial Laws George Kristian Lobkowicz received them from all the corners of Bohemia as a present for his 75th birthday.

In the small hall there is a vedutta collection of European cities of Verona, Bologna, Genova, Venice, Paris, Antwerp, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Cologne, Mainz, Munich, Nuremberg, Augsburg, Hamburg, Dresden, Berlin, Prague, Brno, Stockholm, Stralsund, Königsberg and Constantinopolis. On the walls arms and armour components mostly from the 17th century. The big portrait shows Prince George Lobkowicz, governor of Hungary and Milan, who fought successfully against the Turks.
