PRINCE AUGUST LONGIN’S STUDY
The men’s study is devoted in commemoration of the chancellor Prince August Longin Lobkowicz who became chancelor to the Austrian Emperor Leopold III. Placed next to each other there are portraits of August Longin and his wife Anna Berta, born Princess Schwarzenberg with her son George Christian.
Next to the door are the portraits of the chancellor’s father Prince Anton Isidor and his bride Countess Sidonia Kinsky. In the middle are two portraits of Sidonia as a mother with her daughters. Small portraits show generations of Habsburg monarchs.
At the rear there is a French writing desk dated back to the late 17th century. It is beautified by tortoiseshell, plated brass and tintin in ebony wood - this style derives its name from its creator - Boulle. The carriage clock on the table is made in the same style. It is a French work approximately from the 2nd half of the 18th century. The mirror inlaid with gilded brass and tortoiseshell in ebony wood is also made by Boulle. The large writing desk with gilded bronze applications and plated brass is also a French work in the Rococo style from the middle of the 18th century. The board is covered by pressurizated leather.
Note as well the 17th century inlaid lacquer box in Japanese style and the unique Mother of pearl inlaid table in the same style.
