GRAPE VARIETIES GROWN

Originally Mělník had a large number of old Middle-European grape varieties. Apart from the traditional Burgundian varieties cultivated here, the Riesling, Saint Laurent and Blauer Portugieser vines were introduced in the 19th century. The district of Mělník is a typical site for the cultivation of black grape varieties with which it creates its own terroir. 60% of the wine produced by the Lobkowicz Château Winery is red and 40% white.

Black grape varieties:
Pinot Noir, Saint Laurent, Zweigeltrebe and BlauerPortugieser
White grape varieties:
Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Traminer, Chardonnay Moravian Muscat and Müller-Thurgau

The oldest vines were planted 40 years ago, however the vineyards are constantly being replanted.
